# Mono lead + humanist text — type pairing recipe

## The idea

- A monospaced face leads the page with the honest, typed feel of code and notes, and a warm sans carries the text so it stays comfortable to read.

## Use it for

- Developer portfolios and changelogs
- Research notes and lab journals
- Indie software and small tools

## Avoid it when

- The audience expects a soft, consumer tone
- Headings must fit very narrow columns

## The faces

- Headings: Space Mono, weights 400, 700 (self-hosted from @fontsource/space-mono)
- Body: Manrope, weights 400, 600 (self-hosted from @fontsource/manrope)

## Scale and rhythm

- Scale: 13px, 15px, 18px, 22px, 30px, 42px
- Line height: 1.2 for headings, 1.6 for body text

## Principles

- Use the mono for headings, labels, numbers and code
- Keep monospaced headings short; they run wide
- Set body copy in the sans, never long paragraphs in mono
- Use the mono in small caps-like uppercase for section labels
- Align code and figures on a grid the mono makes easy
